Thanks to Original Recording Group for enlisting us to press audiophile reissues of both classic Roy Orbison titles In Dreams and Sings Lonely and Blue.
Both titles were lovingly cut at 45 rpm and packaged into GGR’s deluxe tip-on jackets. The signature doo-wah sound never sounded so good on wax. Limited edition, numbered, will not be around for long.
Line Drawings is rooted in the shared intentions and working methods of Cody Yantis, Nathan McLaughlin, Josh Mason, and Joe Houpert. What started as a set of exercises under the banner of A Line in the Sand now encompasses seven releases on varying media and features the work of a range of musicians and artists.
Alice Sketches, released on Digitalis Recordings, is a 54-minute cassette of conversations in which Houpert, Mason, McLaughlin, and Yantis consider and respond to challenges and questions posed by one another.
The Line Drawings LP then takes the cassette and refines it—these eight pieces are clear and confident musical statements born from the risk and experimentation heard throughout the Alice Sketches.
Pre-order the LP from Desire Path Recordings now.
The bestest Pink Nasty album is now available on wax. Entitled Mold The Gold, it consists of twelve songs of impure power pop with more hooks than your local hardware store. Grab it from the band or from Re-Vinyl Records.
The Next Great American Novelist (NGAN) is a band from NYC. Drawing from the Beatles, Elliott Smith, NGAN breathes fire into a cold damp era of Rock and Roll.
I’ll See You In The Art You Love, NGAN’s first full length record is about to hit the streets. The debut album is the culmination of a 10 year creative process and is finally being released independently.
The Knife Shift is the forthcoming new album (available May 13) from songwriter Kristeen Young — co-produced by Tony Visconti and featuring Dave Grohl, who plays drums on the entire album and guitar on several tracks. She will be opening for Morrissey for 26 shows beginning in May.
Amasa Hines is a seven piece, Little Rock, Arkansas based band whose sound is as big as their influences are wide. Their influences come from a diverse range of Soul, Afro-Beat, Psychedelic, Blues, Dub, and Indie Rock stylings. You can now grab their debut album on vinyl – All The World There Is.
Even though it is Record Store Day Every Day around these parts, it’s nice each year to have a special day to celebrate our beloved format. Here are the RSD-specific titles pressed at GGR this year – grab them if you can, and remember to keep it independent at your local record store or favorite vinyl label(s) throughout the year!

Ventilato is an acid house stomper from the upcoming John Barera & Friends EP on Zakim Recordings, to be released early May 2014. Tracks were written/produced by John Barera & Eric Pearson in Boston. Mastered by Play Mastering, UK.
After 5 critically-acclaimed full-length albums with the Black Swans, the last of which, Occasion For Song, serving as a eulogy for Noel Sayre, the friend and violinist who passed away and who DeCicca formed the band with, it was time to step out alone.
Understanding Land is the debut solo long player from Jerry David DeCicca.
These 10 songs were written in the Elephant & Castle neighborhood of London after 5 months of touring and traveling the US, Spain, Portugal, and the UK.
What began as demos, soon turned into the actual album when they were shared with double bassist Andy Hamill (Mark Murphy, Natacha Atlas, Tracey Thorn). Andy added bass and some gypsy slides. JDD sent tracks to pals Will Oldham and Kelley Deal and they both came back with sweet harmonies. The legendary Spooner Oldham (Muscle Shoals, Dylan, Neil Young) played Wurlitzer on 3 songs in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
