Record Highlight — Josh Rouse

Josh Rouse - The Happiness Waltz

In March of 2013, Josh Rouse & team will release his 10th full length album…after over 15 years of making music. Starting with the humble beginnings of Dressed Up Like Nebraska into the throw back spirit of 1972 and onto his move to Spain with Subtitulo and El Turista, this new album The Happiness Waltz, brings it all full circle.

Recorded in his Spanish hometown of Valencia at his newly christened studio Rio Bravo, The Happiness Waltz hints back to Josh’s love of 70’s AM radio while keeping the lyrical perspective in the present; touching on what it means to be a husband and father while being a career artist and songwriter.

You can pledge and pre-order an array of thoughtful packages and experiences surrounding this new album now – most packages will be shipping in March.

Record Highlight — Adam Green & Binki Shapiro

Adam Green & Binki Shapiro (Vinyl)

With deceptively pretty arrangements that echo filigreed late-sixties folk-pop and an easygoing rapport between singers, this duets collaboration between Adam Green and Binki Shapiro takes just one listen to enchant. Both artists are notable figures among indie-pop fans, cherished for their off-kilter sensibility (him) and elegantly quirky style (her). Green came onto the New York City “anti-folk” scene with his band The Moldy Peaches, enjoying belated mainstream success via their song on the Grammy-winning soundtrack to the hit film, Juno. Shapiro is recognized by her video collaborations with Beck, and her presence in Little Joy, a, breezy Brazilian-accented Los Angeles trio formed with Fabrizio Moretti of the Strokes and Rodrigo Amarante of Los Hermanos. Adam and Binki’s self-titled debut album features sweetly melancholic lyrics, candidly addressing betrayal and incipient heartbreak, yet encased in the most gentle and melodic of vocals.  Available on vinyl now!

Record Highlight — Diamond Youth

Orange, recorded by Brian Mcternan (Circa Survive, Hot Water Music, The Movielife) is the follow up to Diamond Youth’s well-received official debut, Don’t Lose Your Cool, recorded by Paul Leavitt (Circa Survive, All Time Low).
Despite the varying musical tastes of each member in Diamond Youth, they all share a very common back catalogue of bands who have inspired and defined their developing years as budding artists. From Weezer to Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and all the way back to the Beach Boys, the influence these bands had on Diamond Youth is ever-apparent in the music they write.  Pre-order now!

Record Highlight — JP Harris & The Tough Choices

I’ll Keep Calling is the debut album from Nashville’s JP Harris and the Tough Choices. Twelve original songs written by JP and recorded at Joel Savoy’s Studio Savoire Faire in Eunice, Louisiana. Backed by the rhythm section from the Red Stick Ramblers (Eric Fey on bass and Glenn Fields on drums) along with Asa Brosius on steel guitar and Chris Hartway (the Dixons and the Defibulators)on guitar. In addition to engineering the sessions, Joel adds some fiddle to the mix.

Only 29 years old, JP wrote all twelve songs on the album and sings them in a voice that seems beyond his years. Having hit the road at the young age of 14, he has been living the songs he writes for well over a decade. With a guitar always in his hands, he began playing and singing early country standards around sheep-herding camps in the southwest, and later in hobo jungles and on freight trains across the country. Living and working the past ten years as carpenter, logger, apple-picker, banjo-builder, busker, and a slew of other low-paid, dirty-handed trades in rural Vermont, JP decided to take to the road once again as the neon and stage lights beckoned relentlessly. Relocating closer to his home-city of Montgomery, AL in September of 2011, JP now calls Music City (Nashville, TN) home.
