Customer Highlight – Black Swans

I was really happy when we talked to the Black Swans about pressing their new album. Not only do they create beautiful music, but are Columbus locals. (two of us are located here)

“Words Are Stupid” comes out on limited LP/digital via St. Ives/ Secretly Canadian on 4/27.

Great

Customer Highlight: The Felix Culpa

We are proud to have just finished pressing The Felix Culpa’s new double LP, Sever Your Roots.  This record was pressed on both black and clear wax!  Pick up a copy today here — all copies come with a digital download code.  You can also stream four new songs by the band!

Gotta Groove Records is also proud to announce that The Felix Culpa will be playing live at the GGR SXSW Showcase at Trailer Space Records in Austin, TX on Friday March 19 between 7pm and 10pm.  If you are going to be around, definitely stop by and check these guys out!

Customer Highlight: Wesley Wolfe

Gotta Groove Records is extremely proud to have pressed the very first vinyl release for Carrboro, NC-based singer-songwriter-rocker Wesley Wolfe– Storage.  You can get a copy of the album by contacting Wesley at www.myspace.com/wesleywolfe.

Customer Highlight: Teeeth

Teeeth just released their new album, Mild Times, and hired Gotta Groove to press the 12″ LP.  The record turned out fantastic– be sure to check it out at www.myspace.com/myteeeth.  The record is available via Ulf Magnetics, Inc.

Customer Highlight: The Square Waves

On 12/31/09, The Square Waves (Jeff King)’s new record “Amplified To Landscapes” was made available, and Gotta Groove Records is proud to have pressed it– the record is a 45 rpm 12″ EP with six new songs from this self-proclaimed “Kraftwerk Garage Band”.

In Jeff’s words:

“The Square Waves goal is to make electronic-based music with limited machines of limited capability, combined with a few modern tricks to create a sound that is both new and old. That’s the official word anyway.

When The Square Waves plays live, we are also Paul Lawton, Ryan Shannon, and Jane Edmundson.

The Square Waves is based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, of all places.”

Customer Highlight: Gordon Withers

Funded by a Kickstarter project, rock cellist Gordon Withers booked Gotta Groove to press his new 12″ LP consisting of 6 original compositions and 5 covers.  If you are not familiar with Gordon, check out his 2007 release of cello versions of Jawbox songs (originally released as a benefit for Jawbox’s founder J. Robbins’s son, Cal, who has Type I SMA).  The detailed cover art was drawn by hand with an ink pen by Pittsburgh artist David Gonzalez:

Wikiphonia: A headphone wiki

Great site that I had never heard about.  I like my Sennheiser HD-280’s.  And will probably buy myself a new pair of Grado’s sometime soon.

The only thing that could make this article better is if it were written the “other” Steve Guttenberg.

Wow, you can collect album art via iTunes

iTunes now has album artwork.

So do we.  Except its real, and collectible.

And most people will actually care about it.
