Gotta Groove Records Street Team

What is the Gotta Groove Records Street Team?

The Gotta Groove Street Team is a group of music and art loving volunteers who work together to help expose Gotta Groove Records services; as well as the various artists, bands, record labels, and other companies for whom Gotta Groove presses records, to friends and fellow music and art fans, music and art venues, buyers, etc. in their hometown.  Members use the internet as well as promotional materials like Samplers, Stickers, Videos, Flyers, Postcards, and Posters (depending on availability) to give away to people just like themselves.

What do I have to do as a Street Team member?

All we ask is that you use the promotional items to reach out to music and art fans like yourself, to promote Gotta Groove and its customers!

Where would be a good place to give away promotional material?

Since you know your hometown better than anyone else, give materials away at places where people just like yourself hang out and spend leisure time. In case you're stumped or are looking for some ideas, here's a list of places that are great for handing out promotional material:

  • Record Stores (some of our best friends are record stores)
  • Music Instrument Stores
  • Recording Studios
  • After gigs and shows, outside a club, bar or arena
  • College Campuses (Bookstores, Dormitories, Student Union Buildings, Radio Stations, TV Stations, Cafeterias, Fraternity Houses, Sorority Houses)
  • Schools (Common room, cafeteria, at the gates)
  • Music, dance and theatre schools
  • Lifestyle Shops (Unique Clothing Stores, Army Surplus Stores, Thrift Shops, indie hair and beauty salons)
  • Tattoo and Body Piercing Shops
  • Skate Shops, Surf Shops, Bike Shops, Sport’s clothing shops.
  • Skate Parks, BMX or other sports Events, Surf events, To friends at the beach.
  • Coffee Shops
  • Hang Flyers on Corkboards, Message Boards, Kiosks and other places dedicated to the posting of public notices, including online.
  • Galleries.

The sky is the limit, let your imagination guide you and promote promote promote!

What about online?

All Street Team Members are encouraged to promote Gotta Groove and its customers online. You can do this by posting about Gotta Groove and its customers in chat rooms, sending messages regarding Gotta Groove customers’ music, pictures, artwork, or links to Gotta Groove’s website and those of its customers to your friends via email (when doing so does not violate any copyright or other laws, of course); and by visiting music sites, extreme sports & gaming sites, and your other favorite sites and posting about Gotta Groove and its customers. Please supply a link to the Gotta Groove Records website so people can visit and check out our services and the great 12” and 7” records we press for our customers. Please do not spam sites with multiple posts. Our intention is to promote, not to annoy.

What's in it for me?

Other than participating in the excitement of promoting vinyl records and the bands and projects released on the format [and making some new friends in the process], you'll have access to some cool swag throughout the year (when available).  Plus, perhaps best of all, for every order placed with Gotta Groove using your unique affiliate ID number, you earn a discount equal to 1% of eligible items on each order* for your own next vinyl record project pressed by Gotta Groove!  What if you don’t have a project of your own, but you want to help out another local band?  Well, guess what…this affiliate benefit is transferable!  (You just have to make sure that whoever is referred by you actually uses your affiliate ID number when ordering from Gotta Groove; otherwise, sorry, but we can’t pass along the discount). (*Please see Terms and Conditions for details)

If your college or other learning institution offers collegiate credit for the participation in programs like our Street Team, then we welcome any information you can provide to arrange for such credit.  Please note, however, that while we are happy to provide your institution with any information it may need regarding our street team and your participation in it, it is your responsibility to arrange for such credit with your institution.

What will I get when I join?

Normally we initially send out Flyers and posters, or just ask you to surf the web ;)  Sometimes, we will provide Samplers, stickers, swag, and special exclusive items available as they are created.  As soon as your application is accepted, we’ll make sure you get something cool.

What is the time commitment?

While we do not mandate any set number of hours, we really only want to work with people who are dedicated to helping us spread the word about our services and our customers.  Please don’t apply if you don’t think that you have the time or resources to be an asset to our team.

Are there any Street Team Rules?

YES.  You must fully complete and submit an application and agree to the official Rules and Regulations of the Gotta Groove street team.  But, also, please don’t sell the swag that we send you. It's NOT to be sold, plain and simple-- this includes on Ebay or any other auction site. Some stores or venues may have rules against handing out materials on their property. So please ask, if in doubt.  In addition, it is likely against the law to affix stickers or posters to public or private property. Do not engage in or promote Gotta Groove or its customers or engage in other Street Team activities in private locations unless you have permission. Abide by the law in your locality.

Where can I get online flyers or artwork to make my own flyers, posters and stuff?

It would be really cool if you could help us that way! Please drop us a line at streetteam@gottagrooverecords.com for more info!

Who do I contact if I have any questions?

Email us!  streetteam@gottagrooverecords.com.  (No phonecalls please).

Where do I join?

Click Here to Complete the Online Form (Please note that submitting this online form constitutes your acceptance of the GGR Street Team Rules & Regulations).

Finally, we do limit the number of participants in each geographic area.  So, just because you don’t get a call/email back right away, doesn’t mean we were not totally impressed with your qualifications.  Please just understand that we want to maintain a lean, productive, and manageable street team…and we might be in touch with you at some point, even if not right away.

Stay groovy!
